Performance Testing

Performance testing allows for a deeper understanding of the unique physiological limiters and compensators every athlete has.

A common fallacy is that athletes that perform the same in races should follow the same training plans. In fact, athletes with the same performance values often rely on very different metabolic pathways.

For example, two 35 year old male runners with the same 10k PR will likely burn fat and sugar at different rates, produce and clear more or less lactate at the same perceived effort, and loose or retain electrolytes and sweat very differently. Moreover, there is often a unique “push-pull” or “yin-yang” relationship between underlying physiological processes depending on athletic history and genetic predisposition.

BeFit employs state of the art testing methods which includes respiratory gas analysis (VO2 Master, PNOE), muscle oxygen saturation monitoring (Moxy), blood lactate measurements, sweat electrolyte loss (Precision Hydration) and BodyStat body composition test.

Converting physiological data without advanced interpretation is like writing a novel without a plot.

A successful training plan needs thoughtful adjustments and a solid theoretical foundation. Data is not an end in itself but may serve as the “God particle” of a successful evidenced based training plan.
